...See more This discussion forms part of our Life Challenges event. Click here [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/EventsDiscussions_2666/August2024getinvolvedwithourlifechallengesevent_333814/] to read more about it! Life is hard and it's important that we're kind to ourselves. In the hustle and bustle of day-to-day challenges our achievements and gratitude can become easily clouded. This month we are going to try that little bit harder to acknowledge and celebrate everything that we are grateful for. How do I participate? 1. Every day for the month of August revisit this thread and list one new thing that you are grateful for. It can be something small like developing the strength to achieve a goal, or it could be something bigger and more meaningful. The possibilities are endless! 2. If you'd like to get reminded to post in the thread, click the subscribe bookmark in the bottom left hand corner. This will notify you each time someone replies to the thread, providing you with a natural reminder to post your daily gratitude.  3. Share the love. Share your support of others if you can by upvoting or replying to their posts. It can take a lot to share your gratitude so creating a safe space here is crucial for everyone's comfort.   4. There is no pressure to commit to it every day, but it'll be great and no doubt very rewarding if you could!  So, what are you grateful for today?

...See more I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.  But importantly, talk about getting it done..... or why it didn't happen yet. To praise each other for our efforts and wins. While supporting each other through trials and setbacks. And to continue trying and not give up. Remember:  Every Goal should be considered "Worthy". Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments! Whether they be Complex or Simple. Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say! ...See more I HAVE HIT ROCK BOTTOM AGAIN. I've made progress in 2024 but here towards the end of the year, trials and tribulations have me feeling impotent and useless once again. This rock bottom is not the same rock bottom as a year or two ago. I know from my accomplishments this rock bottom can be approached with some extra advantages. With that said, ROCK BOTTOM is ROCK BOTTOM regardless of what you have or what you don't have. Rock bottom makes you feel impotent and useless. (I am grateful and give thanks for all of my blessings) BEEN STUCK IN THIS EPISODE OF MY OWN MUCK FOR TOO LONG AND I'M TIRED OF IT! TIME TO FIGHT AGAIN! (Fight or give up..... my choice..... my results) This is my November fight. Family Relations, Nephew intrusion into my space.... Started as an asset but quickly turned negative.... TRY TO SAVE a positve spin to it. Holiday Communications. Keep equipment repaired to make money. Make money.  All feels hopeless, futile and disparing.  Where is the sunshine after all of last years hard work and progress? Maybe my December post will feel more fruitful.

Looking for ongoing Listener for accountability

...See more Hello all :) Thank you for checking out my post. I have been struggling with my mental health as of late, and I put together a little DIY program for myself to help structure my time as I am looking for a job right now and have little structure to my day. The program consists of daily "groups" such as working on career related things, review therapy techniques, doing self care, chores, expressing creativity, etc.  I am hoping I can find a listener to commit to partnering with me for approximately 2-4 weeks, where I can do check ins and have accountability for doing my program. Initially I would prefer to check in every day, 1-2x per day, 5-10 minutes per check in (after an initial chat for compatibility), for the first week or so as I implement my program, and then switch to a lesser schedule of every other day, and then ideally get to a point where I can just check in once or twice a week.  Is there any Listener interested in doing something like this with me? Please either message me or comment if you are open to being my accountability buddy, and also let me know what time zone you are in, to be sure there will be times that work for us both to check in (for reference, I am in CST & located in the US) Thank you for reading my post and I am hopeful to find someone for this!
I want to tell you about "BOPs"

...See more I struggle a lot with depression etc, and part of that is total lack of motivation/energy which isn't helped much by my physical mobility issues.  Some days it can be really hard for me to do anything at all.  One thing that has been working for me, is doing what we call BOPs, or little Bursts of Productivity.  it can be anything at all, and for as long or as short as needed, as long as i get moving.  I will usually either set my alarm for every hour, or get up every hour on the hour, and get up for 5-15 mins (sometimes i will go as much as forty mins etc), but even if i don't feel like doing anything, my BOP that hour might just be getting up and walking across the house to the kitchen, and that's all i have the energy for.  Anything at all just to keep me moving.   full disclosure - i still struggle doing BOPs at all on some days (and sometimes a lot of days in a row), but since i broke getting up into little "bite sized" bursts of productivity its been a lot more likely that i do them.   i hope other people are able to benefit from this, and find some hope in knowing you don't need to push yourself to do big goals, even just stretching can be a BOP
Conquering your goals: Setting the right goals!

...See more Hi everyone! I hope this message finds you well. We’re excited to kick off our series with an important topic: setting the right goals. Often, we become so fixated on achieving certain goals that we forget to ask if they’re truly worth pursuing. I recently saw a social media post that resonated with me: “Just because something is hard to achieve doesn’t mean it’s worth having.” This got me thinking—sometimes we chase after goals simply because they’re challenging, assuming that difficulty equates to value. But is that always the case? Many of us find ourselves striving for goals that might not be right for us for several reasons: * Social Pressure: You might feel the urge to achieve something because others around you are doing it. For instance, you might desire a particular car just because your trendy cousin has one. * Seeking External Validation: We often pursue goals to gain approval from others or to enhance our self-worth. For example, people sometimes go through drastic changes in appearance or lifestyle to be admired or accepted. * Uncertainty About What You Want: If you’re unsure of your own desires or values, you might end up chasing whatever seems popular or desirable at the moment. * Insecurities: Sometimes, we set goals to address personal insecurities or boost our self-esteem. For instance, buying designer clothes might be an attempt to feel more valuable or worthy. It’s completely normal to care about others' opinions, want to be liked, or struggle with insecurities. The problem arises when we pursue goals just to escape these feelings without a deeper purpose. It’s like putting a band-aid on a wound instead of addressing the root cause. To avoid chasing the wrong goals, let’s start by reflecting on what truly matters to us. Begin by considering your core values and evaluating whether your goals align with them. Here are some common core values to consider: * Integrity: Adhering to strong moral and ethical principles. (e.g., Honesty, trustworthiness, transparency) * Responsibility: Taking accountability for your actions and duties. (e.g., Dependability, reliability, commitment) * Compassion: Showing empathy and concern for others’ well-being. (e.g., Kindness, supportiveness, generosity) * Justice: Advocating for fairness and equality. (e.g., Fairness, equality, impartiality) * Family: Prioritizing relationships and responsibilities within your family. (e.g., Loyalty, nurturing, support) * Health: Prioritizing physical and mental well-being. (e.g., Wellness, balance, self-care) ❗If you don't know what values matter to you. Consider this activity! [https://www.7cups.com/forum/selfesteem/BuildingSelfesteemseries_2655/BuildingselfesteemValueclarification_322221/] Tasks to complete (You are required to complete the tasks if you aim to get the certificate associated with the series) Please complete both * Identify which core values resonate with you most and reflect on whether your goals align with the life you truly desire. You can choose values not listed here.  * Say you have achieved this goal. What does your life look like now? Using your words, paint a vivid picture of it. Take us there! Be as specific as possible (without giving personal details) Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! my responsibility for taking charge in my life

...See more just a funny little meme has me thinking about my role as the driver of my life. do I want to be a back seat driver, who allows circumstances to direct my path, or do I want to hop in the front seat, grab the steering wheel and slam my foot on the gas?  I post this meme not to place blame on myself, but as a frank & supportive declaration of my power to transform my life into one worth living. And the sense of freedom I feel in taking accountability for my life.  Sure, some of my problems really aren’t my fault- I can’t control the family I was born in, or my gender, my disabilities, or the pressures and inequalities of society.  That being said, what IS in my control, are my responses to my life’s circumstances. And what may feel daunting, overwhelming, or stressful at first, unfolds into a sense of personal power.  I make this post as a challenge to myself and to anyone else who feels called- own up to the responsibility for creating the life I dream of, to not make excuses for myself or blame others for my shortcomings or suffering (EVEN when it’s easy or justified to do so), and revel in the strength I feel for shedding maladaptive mindsets that keep me stuck in patterns that do not serve me or my dreams.

Self-care this December ✨

December 2nd
...See more December is often seen as a month of joy, connection, and celebration, but for some, it can also bring stress, loneliness, and reflection. During this busy season, it’s essential to prioritize self-care and focus on our well-being, as it lays the foundation for handling both the joys and challenges of the holidays. Christmas doesn’t have to be about luxury or expensive gifts. Simple pleasures, like visiting holiday festivals or enjoying a warm cup of hot chocolate, can be just as meaningful. After all, it’s the little moments that truly count. Self-care isn’t about perfection, it’s about making space for the little things that bring you joy. Take a moment to read through the self-care image and do something wonderful for yourself.  Don't forget to take care of yourself, because you deserve it!
