Feeling Overworked

...See more I am feeling a bit overwhelmed and overworked and I’m not sure how appropriated I really am. I love the way everyone tells me how great I’m doing but annoyed by all the work I have to do at the same time but I love the way it feels to be praised so I do the work and don’t complain, which makes them add more things to do to my checklist.

I cannot fathom working for 35+ more years

...See more I’m 31. I’m on my fifth job since graduating college back in 2016. Worked for healthcare for the majority of these years, a short stint in the food industry, and now I’m in an entry level corporate position. I am burned out. Beyond burnt out. Every job I’ve held in my professional years has been high stress, unreasonable workloads, and unsatisfying.  I have no aspirations for trying to find a new “career”. I have searched and scoured and taken various free online courses for different interests and I do not care for anything. I just want a job that can make ends meet and not make me mentally unwell   I’m miserable and so exhausted. I’m crabby and *** off all the time. I can’t relax when I’m not at work. I hate all the repeated advice of making sure to set boundaries, getting enough sleep, exercising, having hobbies, not being so serious about work, finding another new job that won’t make you mentally unwell. This is capitalism, baby. Take it or be homeless. All I’ve know is large corporate companies, I can’t imagine small businesses could be better.  I hate that I have to work to survive on a planet I didn’t even ask to be on. I wasn’t made for sitting at a computer for 8+ hours a day, but I have no direction on where to head anymore. I’m completely lost and discouraged. Everyday I hope something just takes me out so I can get a break.
Time to Resign?

...See more So, I haven't been working since August of this year, due to a loss of someone in my extended family. As I am grieving during this time, I've been seeing a counsellor, joined a Grief Group Support hosted in a Church, and checking in with my GP on a monthly basis.  For those who have not been seeing my previous posts about work, here is a brief description: I work in a local hospital, in a position called OR Aide (Operating Room). I'm not a nurse, but my tasks revolve around nurses, anesthesiologists, surgeons and patients. I have been working as a Casual (meaning, I only have work when others on my team are on vacation) for the past 4 years. People on my team have also caused trouble for me, complaining of my work ethics. When I believe I'm already working beyond what is required. So, it makes me feel like they are just teasing/bullying me for fun. ~~~~~~~~~ During my time away from work, grieving, I have changed my views in life and I feel that a career change is needed. Also, because with the grief, it comes in waves, depending on if I encounter a trigger.. I had felt over the past month, my emotions had been on a bit of roller coaster ride and it will continue to be like this. Working at the Hospital, there are expectations, and in my current state, I honestly don't know when I will be ready to take on my job again. So, thoughts of resigning has been lingering. My brother and I started our own online business last summer, although with the grief, I haven't really done much with it. But, if I do plan to resign from the Hospital, I will be putting all my effort and time to make it succeed. Ever since the loss, my mind has been non-functional, with short-term memory losses, and not being about to think. As most days, it's just brain fog, or like it has shutdown. So, working at the Hospital with the tasks that is required from me, I may not work as productive and efficient. I will need to decide before the New Year.. as that is when I said I'll contact my Manager again.

...See more Good afternoon! Thank you for the discussion. I've entered my first year of university and I'm facing a lot of problems that I want to solve. One of the most important problems is essay writing. I want to learn how to write essays, so I need ways to write a good essay. I tried to write an essay by myself but it's hard for me to start because I don't know the structure of essay writing. Where can I read more about it? If you know any such services I will be grateful for the service for sharing. Have a nice day!
Sharing work wisdom

...See more Hi hi, lovely humans!👋 🧡Happy Cupsgiving!🧡 Sooo, today's theme is Sharing Wisdom (which btw feels a little heavy, ngl, but hey, we love a good deep dive now and then, right?). Anyway, it got me thinking, like, how much random wisdom we accidentally pick up just by... existing at work? You know, those moments where you're like, "Wait. What just happened? Did I actually learn something from that mess?" or like, "Wow, that was... oddly profound for a Monday morning." For example (and don't laugh): once, I literally forgot to unmute myself on Zoom for like... the entire meeting. Cringe central. But, plot twist, it taught me to triple-check before I speak. And to, you know, listen more😂little things like that, but they kinda stick with you, you know? So, I wanna know, have you had any of those !ohhh" or "huh, okay then" moments at work? Doesn't have to be deep or serious (though it totally can be if you feel like it), maybe its just something funny that taught you a lesson or like, an unexpected insight about yourself, or...idk, life in general? Drop your stories, or just chill and read what others share (tthats totally cool too). No pressure, no rules here, except for like, be nice, obviously😅oh, and bonus points if your story involves coffee or snacks, because priorities☕🍩 Alright, im gonna stop rambling now (seriously, someone stop me lol). Can't wait to hear what you've got! Or not! Either way, wishing you a chill, wisdom-filled day. Or at least one without unmuted-Zoom-mishaps🙃
Job Interview Feedback

...See more Hi everyone, This is my first time posting here so nice to meet you all. I've been applying for several positions in the past couple months after being laid off in a very unprofessional way and so far I've got nothing. I had a job offer popping up a month or so ago but it was a very shady one where they insisted I must commute to their office every day which would mean a 2/3 hour ride there and honestly that's not feasible - I won't spend up to 4/6 hours of my day commuting. Last week on Wednesday I got a final interview of a set of 5 ones and was expecting to hear some positive feedback a week or so after that but it didn't happen. Actually, nothing happened, I emailed the HR team yesterday (past a week) and so far (more than 24 hours afterwards) heard nothing. I've also sent a thank you email right after the interview and didn't hear back which wasn't uncommon given it didn't happen the previous times. Does this mean they don't want me? That I am being rejected and should just quit? The uncertainty is really stressing me out and I can't understand why one would not just spend five minutes sending an email even if it's to say there's no updates... Thank you all once again
