Below is a list of some upcoming events that we will be hosting or participating in. We would love to have you join us!
For details about any of these events, contact the church office.
Starting September 9, we are trying a new worship time of 10:30, with an integenerational learning time at 9:30.
Maundy Thursday: April 18 at 7pm, Lyonsville
Good Friday: April 19 at 7pm, Highlands Presbyterian.
Good Friday Labyrinth Walk
Stop by anytime between noon at 6pm on Good Friday, April 19, to share Jesus’ journey to the cross with a guided labyrinth meditation. For the best experience, allow at least 10 minutes. Pastor Sean will be available for prayer as well.
Save the Date! Our next congregational discernment gathering will be Sunday, April 28 from 11:30-12:30. More information will be shared shortly.
Easter Ham: The Mission Ministry will be donating an Easter ham, along with a $10 gift card to a local food store, for 20 of our food pantry families. If you would like to donate money towards the purchase of a ham and gift card, please give your donation to a member of the Mission Board. Thank you.
Our April Mission project is to collect canned goods for the End 68 Hours of Hunger program. End 68 Hours of Hunger is a program that puts nourishing food in the hands of school children to carry them through the weekend. Each bag of food they receive provides two breakfasts, two lunches, and three dinners for a child, with some left overs to share. The local program, based out of the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange, provides a backpack of food for school age children in the Forest Road Elementary School located in LaGrange Park. We will collect the items during the month of April and Pastor Sean suggested have a blessing over the food on the last Sunday before we deliver the food to End 68 Hours of Hunger. If you bring food, please make sure it is marked End 68 Hours of Hunger (so it doesn’t get put away in our own food pantry), or give it to a member of the Missions Committee.
HEIFER INTERNATIONAL – Beginning April 6th, we will distribute plastic eggs to our members and friends and collect donations for Heifer International. We ask that you bring the eggs back on Easter Sunday filled with coins and/or dollar bills. For as little as $20 we can buy a flock of ducks, chicks or geese; for $120 we can buy a goat, a sheep or a pig. Giving an animal is like giving someone a small business, providing wool, milk, eggs and more. Animal donations can provide families a hand up, increasing access to medicine, school, food and a sustainable livelihood. Please help us make a difference.
Do you want to join the Lyonsville Prayer Chain? Want to ask for prayers? Email Nayna Byers, Chair of Pastoral Care. Prayer Chain requests can also be made through the office.
Pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House
We are collecting pop tabs to take to the Ronald McDonald House. We will have a collection container located in the fellowship hall. If you have any questions please see Cindi Fiandaca.
Box Tops for Education
We are also collecting Box Tops for Education to give to Byrne School. Collecting Box Tops is an easy way for schools to earn cash. It’s easy to find Box Tops (a list will be by the collection box). In fact, you may have some in your home right now. All you have to do is clip the Box Tops from your favorite products and put them in the collection container located in the fellowship hall. If you have any questions please see a member of the Mission Board.
