Below is a list of some upcoming events that we will be hosting or participating in. We would love to have you join us!
For details about any of these events, contact the church office.
Starting September 9, we are trying a new worship time of 10:30, with an integenerational learning time at 9:30.
This year’s Advent Study will be on “Learning to Walk in the Dark” – a book by Barbara Brown Taylor. We will gather at 7pm on 12/5, 12/12 and 12/19. It’s not too late to join if you plan on purchasing or borrowing your own book. There are kindle versions available online, and there also several copies available through the SWAN libraries. Even if you can’t make the study, please pick up a copy.
Alternative Gift Fair – is taking place today through Sunday, December 23rd. In addition to fair trade items such as coffee, tea, chocolate bars, almonds and cashews, you will be able to make a financial donation to The Christmas Fund, The Night Ministry, The Constance Morris House and Adopt-a-Family. Please come to fellowship hour to see the items for sale.
Most advent calendars present us with a gift each day leading up to Christmas. The purpose of an Advent of Gratitude is to remind us of the gifts we already have, what we often take for granted, what we can and should be grateful for. Each daily reminder includes a suggestion for payment, a small monetary gift that in 24 days will grow into a donation. At the end of this challenge, please bring your donation to Lyonsville to help support the general fund.
Pick up your Advent of Gratitude in the narthex.
CHRISTMAS FLOWERS ORDER FORMS
You may place your order for flowers during fellowship time on Sunday, December 2, December 9 and December 16. You will be able to take your plant home after service on Christmas Eve – your name will be on your plant(s) to ensure that everyone receives what they ordered. Your completed order form (and check or cash) should be given to Judy Birmingham.
Order forms are available in the narthex.
Our Christmas Pageant will be December 16.
Our Christmas Eve service is 5pm on Monday, 12/24.
New Hats/Scarves/Gloves/Socks for the Lyonsville Food Pantry
During the winter months, we plan to collect new hats, scarves, gloves and socks (for all ages). Please bring your donation (either home made or store bought) to church any Sunday and either give it to a member of the Mission Board or leave it in the bin at the top of the stairs going into the fellowship hall. Thank you.
Pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House
We are collecting pop tabs to take to the Ronald McDonald House. We will have a collection container located in the fellowship hall. If you have any questions please see Cindi Fiandaca.
Box Tops for Education
We are also collecting Box Tops for Education to give to Byrne School. Collecting Box Tops is an easy way for schools to earn cash. It’s easy to find Box Tops (a list will be by the collection box). In fact, you may have some in your home right now. All you have to do is clip the Box Tops from your favorite products and put them in the collection container located in the fellowship hall. If you have any questions please see a member of the Mission Board.
