Below is a list of some upcoming events that we will be hosting or participating in. We would love to have you join us!
For details about any of these events, contact the church office.
Starting September 9, we are trying a new worship time of 10:30, with an integenerational learning time at 9:30.
Thanksgiving Eve service will be 7pm on 11/21 in the Lyonsville chapel. This will be a joint service with Highlands Presbyterian and Burr Ridge UCC.
DECORATE THE CHURCH FOR THE HOLIDAYS will take place Sunday, December 2nd after worship.
Save the dates for this year’s Advent Study: Learning to Walk in the Dark. Based on the book by Barbara Brown Taylor, we will explore how to “find spirituality in those times when we don’t have all the answers.” In the dark days of Advent, waiting for hope that hasn’t yet arrived, this book will help us explore what the dark can teach us. Three Wednesdays in Advent at 7pm: December 5, 12, and 19. Contact the office by November 15 to sign up.
The Mission Board is collecting money to purchase turkey dinners for 20 of our food pantry families. If you would like to make a donation, please see either Nayna Byers or Judy Birmingham.
The Mission Board is also collecting hats, glove and new socks which will be kept in the Lyonsville food pantry for our guests. If you have a donation, you can leave it in the bin at the top of the stairs going to the fellowship halls. Thank you.
UCC ADVENT DEVOTIONAL
Please let the church office know by 11/11 if you would like a copy of this year’s UCC Advent devotional. Optional $5 donation should be marked on your envelope, or memo line of check.
There will be a Manna Fundraiser in November/December. Manna gift card order forms are available in the Narthex. The orders will be due December 2 and distributed on December 9. Please see Cindi Fiandaca for more information. These make great Christmas gifts!
Pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House
We are collecting pop tabs to take to the Ronald McDonald House. We will have a collection container located in the fellowship hall. If you have any questions please see Cindi Fiandaca.
Box Tops for Education
We are also collecting Box Tops for Education to give to Byrne School. Collecting Box Tops is an easy way for schools to earn cash. It’s easy to find Box Tops (a list will be by the collection box). In fact, you may have some in your home right now. All you have to do is clip the Box Tops from your favorite products and put them in the collection container located in the fellowship hall. If you have any questions please see a member of the Mission Board.
