Below is a list of some upcoming events that we will be hosting or participating in. We would love to have you join us!
For details about any of these events, contact the church office.
“Soul Kitchen” is a spirited dinner and discussion group that meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm. It is a ministry of St. Helena’s Episcopal Church and is organized by the priest there, Father Ethan. Lyonsville folks are invited to join — and we hear they have a great time! The group chooses its own topics and locations as they go, generally via group text. If you’re interested contact the office and we’ll get you on the list. Pastor Sean will participate sometimes if there’s enough interest.
The next evaluation of Pastor Sean’s ministry is coming up and will be conducted by Lauren McSweeney and Jean Hegner. Please remember you are always encouraged to speak with Sean directly if you have any comments or concerns about his ministry. As part of the evaluation process, you are also welcome to share any comments or concerns with Lauren or Jean. Please share any feedback with them by Sunday, September 29.
IT IS SCHOLARSHIP TIME!
We are a bit into the fall school season and it is time to see if we have any candidates for the Karas scholarship. Our church is most fortunate to have had a couple of members who felt so committed to education that they bequeathed scholarship monies to Lyonsville for our use in awarding to worthy candidates who are continuing their education. Although we have two scholarship funds, Pavlus and Karas, we will only be considering awarding from the Karas Fund this year due to a minimum balance that must be maintained on the Pavlus Fund.
Scholarship applications will be available in the church office or from Nayna Byers as of 9/22/19. The deadline for application submission will be October 10, 2019. Guidelines are explained in the application. If you have any questions, please contact Nayna Byers.

2019 Scholarship Committee
CROP Walk 2019 will be held on Sunday, October 28th, which is the same day as our Congregational meeting. Due to this conflict, Lyonsville will be putting together a team to walk on Saturday morning, October 27th. Lyonsville will receive a portion of the money collected which will be used to buy food for our food pantry. If you are interested in being part of the team, please let a member of the Mission Board know.
Do you want to join the Lyonsville Prayer Chain? Want to ask for prayers? Email Nayna Byers, Chair of Pastoral Care. Prayer Chain requests can also be made through the office.
Pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House
We are collecting pop tabs to take to the Ronald McDonald House. We will have a collection container located in the fellowship hall. If you have any questions please see Cindi Fiandaca.
Box Tops for Education
We are also collecting Box Tops for Education to give to Byrne School. Collecting Box Tops is an easy way for schools to earn cash. It’s easy to find Box Tops (a list will be by the collection box). In fact, you may have some in your home right now. All you have to do is clip the Box Tops from your favorite products and put them in the collection container located in the fellowship hall. If you have any questions please see a member of the Mission Board.
