Struggling with Low Motivation as a Student
Hello everyone, I'm currently a university student studying abroad in Japan. Recently, I've been feeling overwhelmed with the amount of knowledge I need to learn and the tasks I have to complete. But for some reason, I've lost all motivation.
I often skip classes and spend most of my time at home doing nothing. This behavior frustrates me, and I feel stuck in a cycle l can't seem to break. I want to end this unproductive and painful way of living, but I don't know how to take the first step.
If anyone has experienced something similar or has advice on how to regain motivation and balance, I would be really grateful for your suggestions. Thank you for reading my post!
@wittyPineapple7657Hello!
I understand feeling unmotivated and frustrated because of this. You mention feeling overwhelmed. Do you think you've taken time to care for yourself lately? Could the lack of motivation be coming from burnout?
When I feel overwhelmed, I like to do something that I enjoy, and that will make me happy. Sometimes, I need to call a friend, play a video game, or do some breathing exercises.
A question I've found helpful and often ask myself is, "What does my body need right now?"
I like this question because it assesses my needs, physically, mentally, or emotionally. My body could need something as simple as a drink of water or a bathroom break. My body could need some deep breathing or to step away and decompress. Maybe I just need to cry and let out my feelings that way.
It can be difficult to find a way to get back on track. Keep your goals in mind (your 'why'). And take care of yourself. I believe in you! 💗
