...See more Hi there, Today we will learn a little more about gratitude and learn how to express this. Studies have shown that if you practice daily gratitude practice, it can make you feel happier and improve your health. What is Gratitude? Gratitude is the expression of appreciation for what one already has and not ones future desires or hopes. It is generated from within. This social emotion strengthens relationships, and its roots run deep in evolutionary history, and it stems from the survival value of helping others and being helped in return. Studies show that specific areas of the brain are involved in experiencing and expressing gratitude. Brain scans of people assigned a task that stimulates gratitude show lasting changes in the prefrontal cortex that heighten sensitivity to future experiences of gratitude, thus feeling happier and healthier. Please list 3 things that you are grateful for and share daily if you feel comfortable to do so!

...See more I don’t want to live a life my parents lived.  My clients often tell me this. They share :-  🚩 I’ve seen my parents sacrificing & suffering.  🚩 I don’t remember when did they enjoy last.  🚩 I’ve seen them struggling with money & health. 🚩 I’ve seen them being exhausted & feeling constantly hurt in their relationships.  Sadly, even if we don’t like what we saw while growing up, we still end up doing the same.  🔴 We end up having a similar life, a similar marriage, a similar way of thinking & living.  I believe that our generation can be THE CYCLE BREAKERS.  🟢 We can bring in new ways of living our lives. 🟢 We can take a quantum leap in our thinking.  🟢 We can embrace self-love & self-care. 🟢 We can heal our old wounds & release the past.  🟢 We can rewire our money & health beliefs

...See more DIVORCE doesn’t mean a failed marriage  We’ve been conditioned to believe that a marriage has failed if it doesn’t last forever.  I feel that a marriage leading to divorce can be complete & successful if it has achieved what it was meant to; NOT every marriage is supposed to last forever & it is okay.  I’ve seen many divorced individuals :  ✔️ Evolving enormously post divorce as if it’s a rebirth ✔️ Transforming into a completely new individual ✔️ Feeling a renewed sense of energy  ✔️ Taking a quantum leap in their thinking  ✔️ Embracing new chapters of love  I believe divorce shouldn’t be a taboo anymore.  If a partner or a couple wants to break free from a marriage that doesn’t seem like love or aligned with one’s being, WHY NOT separate provided they’ve tried everything to make it work and are still suffering? Where we fail as a society is when we tell others:  👉🏿 It’s okay. 99% of the marriages are like this. 👉🏿 Come on. Never think of a divorce. 👉🏿 Think about your child, compromise & stay.  By saying so, we just reinforce a belief in them that life is meant to be dysfunctional and unhealthy marriages are normal.  Can we stop? Is this how we are evolving?

At one place a beautiful young woman was standing unable to walk across because of a puddle of water. The elder of the two monks lifted the woman, carried her across the river, placed her gently on the other side, and continued his way to the monastery. In the evening the younger monk came to the elder monk and said, “Sir, as monks, we cannot touch a woman?” The elder monk answered “Yes, brother.” Then the younger monk asks again, “But then Sir, how did you lift that woman on the roadside ?” The elder monk smiled at him and replied, “Brother, I set her down on the other side of the river, why are you still carrying her?” How often do we carry burdens we could have set down a long time ago...
Turning into Trees

...See more “When you go out into the woods and you look at trees, you see all these different trees. And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens, and some of them are whatever. And you look at the tree and you allow it. You appreciate it. You see why it is the way it is. You sort of understand that it didn’t get enough light, and so it turned that way. And you don’t get all emotional about it. You just allow it. You appreciate the tree. The minute you get near humans, you lose all that. And you are constantly saying “You’re too this, or I’m too this.” That judging mind comes in. How could things in life be different when we would practise turning people into trees meaning appreciating them just the way they are?

...See more A young reporter was asked to interview a 102 old man about his secret of reaching such old age. “You see young man, I’m still running, but I run at my speed, not at others speed. The people I grew up with started at the same time. They started fast and kept going fast all the time, never taking a moment to smell the roses, to watch a sunset or a bird building its nest. They won trophies but that did not make them happy so they ran faster and faster until they could not run anymore. They spend all their energy on reaching their goals but never realized that the true goal was staying in the race not winning it. How do you relate to this story?

...See more It was a hot summer day and Auden, the little sparrow, had not had anything to drink for a long time. Auden was exhausted and looked for a tree which could give them some fruit to get juice to drink. They looked around, searched everywhere but could not find a single tree bearing fruit. All of a sudden Auden noticed some birds passing by and dropping some seeds. “Well, these seeds must come from fruit, so I will take the direction the other birds came from”. After a while Auden came to a beautiful orchard, filled with all kinds of fruit trees. However, at the far end, they noticed a funny, kind of ugly looking tree. “Oh, that tree does not look nice, it looks poor too, I don’t think it really fits in with these trees bearing such exceptional fruit”. So Auden flew to the first fruit tree and asked: “Excuse me, I’m so thirsty, can I have one of your fruits?” “No, they are mine!” was the reply so Auden walked to the next tree and asked again if they could have a fruit. “Go away” was the answer Auden got, so they flew from one tree to the other, asking many more of them, who all looked healthy and full of fruit but none of the trees was willing to give. “I will faint from dehydration because no tree wants to give me its fruit” Auden thought while they sat down under the ugly, funny looking tree. Suddenly they heard a voice: “I cannot give you a fruit right now but I have plenty of water to share, want some?” Auden thankfully took the water and drank it carefully so not a drop was wasted. The tree was so generous and helpful to someone else, even a completely different species, the baobab tree was given a very long life for always being able to store enough water for themselves and all creatures to visit. What kind of feelings did this story create in you?
Thanksgiving Story

...See more A teacher in class asked her students to write a letter about what they are thankful for. When she stood in front of the class, seeing everyone eagerly writing, she thought, “I wonder what Aiden will have on their list. Sadly their parents are very poor and they live in a deteriorating neighborhood, not the best place for a child to grow up. All the others have so much to be thankful for, their parents have enough money to buy them lots of toys, they live in beautiful homes and regularly go to fun events. Aiden does not have all of this.” When everyone was finished, she collected the lists and took them home to read. She was expecting that the students from richer families would have long lists but when she started reading the first one she noticed that there were only 3 things on the list, “I’m thankful for my precious ring I got from mum, the new bicycle and for the new i-phone”. “Hmm, let’s see what the next list shows”. This list came from Amory whose parents had a lot of money. “There is not a lot to be thankful for” Amory wrote in their list “I just have a few toys, an i-pad, a computer, a robot, nothing really fancy” “Why don’t my parents buy me all the stuff I see on the internet?” The teacher became very sad and thought “Well, I guess Aiden’s list will be empty”. When she however opened the list she saw it was full of things to be thankful for. Aiden wrote: “I’m thankful for my parents, because they gave my life” “I’m thankful for the food on the table, it’s not always what I want but I do not need to stay hungry” “I’m thankful for my neighbours, not all of them are always nice, they carry heavy burdens but they smile when they see me” “I’m thankful that we have running water and mum does not need to go to the well to get water in a bucket” “I’m thankful for electricity even if we have a lot of power cuts but most days there is electricity and I can switch on the light and read in the evening” The list went on and on, it was filled with thanks and joy. There was a tear in the teacher’s eye as she marked a bit “A” on Aiden’s paper. What does Thanksgiving mean to you?

...See more Merle was an old lady, whose family was very wealthy but Merle herself lived in very moderate, almost poor conditions. One day her grandsons visited her to take her for a ride and to show her their beautiful house with the big garden, the pool and all the luxuries they had. When they arrived at their home, they gave her a tour of the premises, showed Merle everything, even invited her into the pool. When it got late they brought her back to her home. On their return, they asked her how she liked their home. “Oh, it was wonderful boys.” The boy replied: “We are so sorry that you have to live under such poor conditions, just in a tiny wooden house without anything to enjoy”. “Well boys, don’t be sad, you made me truly see how rich I am! In your garden there is a pool, while there is a beautiful lake a few minutes away from my home. You got expensive modern outdoor lights, but I have stars above my head at night shining brightly. You have a garden with a few beautiful trees while there is an amazing forest right next to my home. Every week you go into the supermarket to buy food, while I grow most of it here and get the rest from my neighbours. You have security to make you feel safe. I have all the dogs to alert me and my neighbours who come over to see how I am doing if the dogs don’t stop barking. The boys did not say a word. Then the boys said: “We always see you smile when we visit you, thank you for sharing your secrets with us. You are truly rich.” 🌻 What kind of thoughts did you have when reading this story?
Leila and the Bee

...See more Leila was a young girl, 8 years old, and always very curious to explore the world around her. She enjoyed watching the birds flying, the pigeons building their nests and the insects crawling around getting their daily tasks done. One day, she noticed a bee and immediately withdrew her hand so she would not be stung. She heard a soft voice: “Leila, don’t be afraid, I do no harm, I’m just here to do my daily work.” Leila was a bit surprised and suspicious remembering the neighbor telling her “Stay away from bees, they just hurt you, they do no good” but the voice was so kind that Leila decided to stay for a moment. “Look Leila, I brought my pollen basket with me, it’s right on my hind leg. To get the apple you’re having every morning, the tree blossoms need to be pollinated so that the tree is fertilized and fruit can grow. That’s part of our job. Sometimes the wind helps but mostly pollination is our job.” “I see you’re wearing a lovely cotton shirt, that's only possible to make because the cotton flower plant was pollinated by bees.” “I'm so glad you and your family and friends come to us to help with the cotton plants and also with all the food. We would not be able to do this by ourselves! You are our friend! We need to make it safe for bees so that everyone can enjoy an apple, some honey, or fruits and vegetables.” The bee said: “Before I leave I will give you a present, Leila. Here is a packet of wildflower seeds so that all the bees in your garden can thrive on pollen and nectar!” “Thank you so much bee,” Leila said. I’m so happy that I did not just run away but stayed and listened to you. I now understand how important it is to have you and all the other animals to keep nature in balance. I want to tell everyone about you so they understand how much you help us.” What is your take-away from this story? Can you mention 3 personal reasons to be grateful for bees?

...See more A young woman was admiring a lady dressed very elegantly sitting in a coffee shop. “I bet she comes from a wealthy family and has a rich husband so she can afford sitting in the coffee shop every morning getting her breakfast served. I have to make breakfast for the whole family every morning, the kids are quarreling, my husband earns just enough money so we can survive, my grandmother needs to be served, I wish I could be her!” Suddenly everything around her was spinning, she felt like something was pulling her away from the place she was standing into the sky. For a moment she lost consciousness and when she woke up, she realized that she had turned into the elegant lady! “Wow” she said, “My wish came true!” She ordered a big breakfast with all the delicious things she ever wanted. However, somehow she could not really enjoy it, there was an odd feeling inside of her. All over sudden a well dressed driver came to her and asked : “Madam, are you ready to get back home?” “Yes, '' she said, happy to get back home. After a 10 minutes drive they arrived home. It was a beautiful big mansion, so she entered the door, eager to see kids and husband but there was an awful silence in the house. She could not find anybody so she asked the driver: “Where has everyone gone, my kids, my husband, my grandmother?” “Madam, you have been living here all alone for a very long time. You used to have a big family, that’s what you told me one day, but then one day you just left, you thought they were too much. However, a few years ago you were lucky to win the lottery and get a lot of money but you never went back to your family to see them and share your fortune. I heard your husband married again and is happy but still makes only enough money to survive but the kids help, they all love each other and happily care for your grandmother.” What are your thoughts on this story?
Expectations

...See more There was a farmer sitting on his porch in a rocking chair. They were remembering their youth when they used to ride fast horses. They were kind of sad because they did not ride anymore. So the farmer said to themself, "I am going to buy a fast horse." So they went to town to the livery stable where they found a person selling a race horse. "Has it run fast?" the farmer asked. The man replied "Very fast." So the farmer bought the horse and took it home and saddled it up. Then the horse started to walk but would not go fast. So the farmer brought the horse back and told the man the horse did not trot or gallop. "Well last time I rode them, they went very fast." the man said. So the farmer asked when the man last rode them. "The man replied "Well I guess it was twenty years ago." That is the problem I face, when I have expectations that life is going to be like it was "twenty years ago." I suffer when I have my eyes on the past and expect that life will be the same as it was back then. I am having to change my expectations so I can get at peace with myself. What are your expectations and how realistic are they for where you are at this point in life?
