☺️Hello friend!! ☺️

I'm so happy you've found me on 7 Cups of Tea.

🌿 🌿 🌿 🌿 🌿 🌿

I'm a 27 year old verified active listener and I love talking with and supporting people who are in need of a non-judgmental & friendly chat. I've been on 7cups for a while now and enjoy the work we do together. Life has a habit of throwing us a few curveballs and sometimes we just need someone to talk to. My approach to active listening centers community, mindfulness, and gratitude, because these are my core values as a listener & as a person in mental health recovery myself.

Please note: I am a volunteer listener, not a mental health professional. Therefore, if you are experiencing a crisis, such as suicidal thoughts or self harm thoughts, please see the 7cups crisis resource page, which can be found here

🌞 🌞 🌞 🌞 🌞 🌞

About chatting with me:

I am a part of the LGBTQ 🌈 community and enjoy taking chats regarding LGBTQ topics. I also have personal experience with topics such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationships and codependency (as well as non monogamous/polyamorous relationships), borderline personality, OCD, PTSD, women's issues, spirituality & religion, chronic pain and physical disabilities, homelessness, and self harm. I accept a variety of chats both within these issues and outside of these issues and have education in social work.

Please note that I do not offer chats related to details about sex.

My chats are typically 30 minutes, sometimes up to 1 hour in length & are offered on an ad-hoc basis. I unfortunately can't guarantee reliable, on-going chats. I might offer a follow up chat or two, and/or brief ongoing check-ins as my capacity allows 😊 (Long-term listening might be available on a case-by-case basis).

My roles on 7cups include:
-Trained & Verified Active Listener
-Mindfulness Room Supporter
-Listener Discussion Leader

About Me:
In my free time I enjoy painting, playing board games, spending time in nature, stargazing, and volunteering. I also love to dance, swim, read, spend time at the library, journaling, and writing. A fun fact about me is that I spent a summer working at a national park!

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and I hope we can connect soon!

stand tall

...See more I struggle with self doubt. I am sure I am not the only one. I often find inspiration in nature and came across this photo. Here is my affirmation of the day, you are welcomed to repeat the affirmation (in your head, out loud, or in a reply post) if you feel called to do so.  Today I stand tall & confident, like a strong tree, despite weathering many storms, I cannot be knocked down.
a visualization of the lifespan of relationships
Relationship Stress / by Kait

...See more It’s no secret that relationships don’t last forever. I thought this was an interesting visual representation of different types of relationships. The lines show the closeness, or separation, of relationships over the span of our lives. What do you all think about this picture, does this bring up any thoughts or feeling about the relationships on your lives?  One of the takeaways I have from this is that the only guaranteed relationship you have from your entire life, birth to death, is your relationship with yourself.

A perspective on boundaries & being a woman
Women's Issues / by Kait

...See more I think in a lot of societies, women are expected to be accommodating of others, we are expected to prioritize everyone else, and expected to give specific reasons for our boundaries. And if those reasons aren’t “good enough,” sometimes we get pushback.  Well, I’d like to challenge that, because we shouldn’t need a specific reason for our boundaries. “Because I said so” is enough. If you don’t want to date someone, if you want to quit something, if you want to change a behavior or habit, “Because I don’t want that for myself anymore” is enough!

Looking to connect/chat with a Grief & Loss Community Leader
Grief & Loss / by Kait

...See more Hi!  Does anyone know who I might be in contact with regarding the description of the group? I have a question about this first sentence in the group's "About"- "This is a caring and safe place to share your feelings arising from the loss of someone very important in your life." & "Here we encourage and welcome remembering and honoring the memory of important people in your life who are no longer with you." My question is- is this sub-community strictly for bereavement, or for loss/grief in general? I ask because I personally have felt grief over a variety of losses, of course including the death of a loved one, but also for loss such as losing my sense of community, loss of relationships, loss of my mental & physical health, loss of opportunities, loss of feeling safety & security, etc. I was wondering if this is supposed to be a more general community? And, if so, is it possible to edit the community description to be more inclusive of a variety of losses we experience in our lives? Just a thought. The name of the group in itself implied a more general group (to me at least), so I was surprised to see such a narrow description of grief/loss in the group's "About" section.

Leadership Development Program / by Kait

...See more Hi everyone! My name is Kait and I am new to 7cups academy & to the LDP. I just wanted to post to say hi and to see if there are any other newly enrolled listeners :) Maybe we can chat or check in on our progress. I have found that I work much better with/in community rather than just on my own. So I was hoping to make some listener friends on this new journey! A little bit about me & my listener journey: I first joined 7cups back in 2014, when I was a wee teenager. I have been off and on this site for some time now, and have held a few leadership positions, including peer supporter & a member of the care team in the past. I am new to my current leadership role as a listener discussion host, and hope to host my first discussion soon, so maybe I'll see you there!  My long term leadership goal is to become a group support mentor. After much thought and consideration, I chose this as my goal because groups are dear to my heart & bring me a true sense of community. I have recently applied to be a room supporter for the mindfulness rooms, one of my favorite communities here on 7cups, to start the pathway to chatroom mentorship. I enrolled in the program with hopes of working towards my leadership goal & also to be able to put this experience on my resume. Anyways, I am glad to be here, thank you all for having me, and a big thank you to all of the volunteers & leaders who make this program possible, I really appreciate your hard work <3
